LAKE POWELL, SECOND DAY ON THE WATER

Garth is practicing what he learned in the MTC and started each morning with scripture study.

Jean kept the kitchen clean and shiny.

We all did our thing with a smile before the breakfast feast.

Gil covered up with that new fangled sun block spray. It also helped squeeze on that special collectors edition hat of his.

A Bubba Barrel of the special brew and the professor is good to go for the day.

Tanked up and topped off with food and fuel, we head out for another adventure with captain Andy and first-mate Kathy.

Captain Andy makes ready for a full day with a full tank of gas.

Slathered in sun block sauce we're all smiles as we head out for the day.

That hat never looked better!
Smooth sandstone mountains that hold some special memories for Andy and Kathy.

Every bend in the river and every canyon hold a special memory for them as they reflect on the good times with family and friends.
Up another beautiful canyon.

In and out of a huge cave that was carved by the river a long time ago. This was the perfect spot to demonstrate the boat's direct manifold exhaust melody. A roaring blast of power and pride filled the cave and thrilled the hearts of every power fan on board.

Up the canyon a little ways to a dry waterfall. It's dry now but when it rains it pours! It was a perfect place to stop for a refreshing swim.

The swim was soon replaced with an aerobics class conducted by trainer/coach Jerry. She had us all stretched out, warmed and and ready to swim the rest of the way on our own. The dispute over whether fish or dripping water made the water rings was laid to rest too.

Andy enjoyed the swim, but called it time to move on to see the next site.

We all got back in the boat and prepared for more beautiful vistas.

We left the dry waterfall and powered our way through the canyons, headed to our next adventure!

Andy knew exactly where he would take us next...

It looked like a little "Hole in the Rock" at the end of a slot canyon.

The canyon walls came in closer and closer. We could see the end of the water and a winding water-carved slot canyon ahead.

The skill and courage of captain Andy brought us safely to the drop point and we got out of the boat to explore the slot canyon and take a first-hand look.

We walked the canyon and found fine soft sand, tall rock walls, evidence of rock peckers and a lost pool of water reflecting the walls above us.

Reflections in the water of the walls above.
The brave group of explorers that discovered (anew) Friendly Canyon.

Special thanks to Andy and Kathy for sharing their wonderful world of Lake Powell with us.

It was a hot day and we were ready for something cold. Captain Andy had just the place we needed in mind.

We left the narrows and went through...

...the canyons to the main channel and on to...

...the coolest place in town...

...the root beer float shop at Hall's Landing.

Cooled off, we once again got into the boat and headed back to the Summerplace II.

Back to all the comforts of home filled with dear friends, talk of the days adventures and pictures to help capture the new memories.

What a great time we shared. Next time I'll have to take a few pictures if the beautiful spread of food at each meal, time spent around the game table, quiet conversations and busy helping hands. Until we meet again, we'll remember our special time together with Andy and Kathy on the Summertime II.
